DS Platformer Shantae: Risky’s Revenge Available Now (In Japan)
Shantae was one of the last great games released for the gameboy color. An excellent game released at a time when its platform was obsolete, Shantae has managed to gather a loyal fan base in spite of its launch console. In 2010, a sequel was released for the Nintendo DS, and was praised for its art style and platforming aesthetics. Good news Shantae fans, we have learned this game has just launched in Japan! While the market used to download the game is in Japanese, the game itself is in full English!
-Use your hair to whip monsters and solve puzzles
-Belly dance to become a Monkey, Elephant, or Mermaid
-Battle epic bosses and upgrade your powers
-3 save slots for multiple players
-Includes thousands of frames of animation
-Flirtatious storyline and humorous characters
-A quest so big it’s bursting at the seams!
Shantae: Risky’s Revenge follows the story of the belly-dancing, hair-whipping Shantae, as she seeks out her arch nemesis, Risky Boots, in order to get a magical lamp. Gameplay is similar to games like Castlevania and Metroid, with a large 2D over world for exploring. You will be able to unlock new areas as you gain power ups, enabling Shantae to morph into a monkey, elephant, or mermaid. Shantae: Risky’s Revenge works with the Xperia Play gamepad and bluetooth controllers, a welcome feature. There is a free lite version and a paid version for 300 yen or $2.80. In order to get either version you will have to download the Japanese G-Gee market and go to new releases.
