Galaga Special Edition Review
Bandai-Namco recently released their popular shooter game Galaga Special Edition on the Google Play store, a pumped up version of the original classic with updated visuals and new gameplay. The game has received generally favorable comments so far, and is free with in-game ads.
Galaga Special Edition is a decent time waster and a welcome addition to Android’s shooter library. The graphics in this game are reminiscent of a 16-bit video game. The artwork is fairly well done and are a logical update from the classic sprites. Chain explosions look neat and can clear the whole screen. Enemies quickly fill the screen and can make the playing field very cramped. The game play is entertaining and well suited for shorter sessions. The game starts off simple like in the original classic but slowly builds up with larger waves, bosses, and power ups.
Summary: Galaga Special Edition is a poor recreation of the original arcade hit. While fun in short spurts, it lacks the addicting gameplay of the title its based on.
