Unity Gets In The Publishing Game With Physics Platformer Gears
Prolific game making software creator Unity Corp, best known for its ubiquitous Unity 3D engine, the framework behind some of Android’s most visually stunning titles like Shadowgun and Riptide GP, has entered the publishing business with the release of Crescent Moon Game’s ball rolling platformer Gears.
An imaginative adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world where a ball is the key to the planets survival, Gears blends fast paced gameplay with thought provoking puzzles. Players will help their circular protagonist navigate the mechanical innards of a doomsday machine as they put a wrench in its cogs. Three uniquely themed worlds offer up different challenges such as deadly rivers of magma or the ominous cavern of omens.
As is usually the case with Unity based games, Gears looks terrific. Crescent Moon Games designed Gears to make full use of all of Unity 3D’s special effects, which is probably the reason it was chosen by Unity Corp for publishing. Lava flows realistically, real time lighting effects abound, and crisp HD textures are everywhere.
Gears is a visually stunning physics platformer that doubles as a showcase for the Unity 3D engine. It’s currently available as an exclusive to Sony devices for $1.99. We’ll be sure to let you know when it becomes universally available.
