Blast Your Way Through The Unsavoury Seas In Merdermaid

Merdermaid is a new sidescrolling shooter from the indie developer Josh S. The game took several months to make, but the end product turned out great. You will take control of a pearl shooting mermaid (or merdermaid I suppose), and you will be blasting your way through several underwater levels that are filled to the gills with sea creatures looking to see you dead. Get your fish tail on and blast your way through the many tough boss battles to prove you are the queen of the seas.

Game has potential but right now it’s just too short and way too easy. Can be beaten in ten minutes. It needs difficulty settings at the least.

Hey, Josh S. here. I made the game.
    Thanks for the review!

I’m actually going to add more stuff to the game as it gets more popular as free updates. Things like a boss rush mode and an infinite mode.

I’m really glad you liked the game! Makes me proud that I can actually design games at least somewhat correctly.

The game’s a lot of fun. I like the powerup system. I’m just an old shoot shoot em up fan and it just needs to be a little more challenging. The artwork is great.

I thought the game was pretty hard. I could probably add in an unlockable “Super Hard” mode for those who finished the game.

  • Mitch

I know you said that people you know think the game’s hard but the people that like shmups like their games extra challenging. Otherwise, there’s no replayability.

    • Manly Chicken

Don’t worry. I’ve got a number of free updates coming. I just want to get the game a few more downloads before committing to anything.

  • Manly Chicken

Actually, now, since Google doesn’t let me change a free app to a paid app even if it started as paid I’m keeping it free but added a version that’s 99 cents but has all the same content as the free version.

Think of it as an optional donation to help me keep making games.
