Kickstarter Spotlight: BLORK
BLORK is a new Kickstarter project that has been stated as “Q*bert meets rubik’s cube!“. It is most easily described as a retro grid-based puzzle game, and it started out as a year-long project by a couple of young game designers at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
After a couple months of brainstorming, paper prototyping, and playing games they came up with the concept for BLORK. The development team consists of three indie game developers; Chris Drogaris is the developer and programmer, Dario Farina is in charge of the graphics and level design, and David Lugo is the one behind the game’s wicked retro soundtrack and other audio elements.
BLORK is a puzzle game that has you moving around a cube on a grid of tiles with either blue or orange borders. Your goal is to asign those tiles with their appropriate color, and this is where the game gets tricky. BLORK is a game that is sure to challenge your way of thinking in a variety of different ways, and it has been designed in a way that will really put your problem-solving skills. That said it’s unique arcade style and casual gameplay game will get you hooked instantly. Any fan of puzzle games is sure to fall in love with simple complexity that is BLORK.
As BLORK is a Kickstarter project there is a good chance that you’re at least a bit curious as to what kind of rewards you can get for helping to fund this game. For just $1 you will earn yourself an Android copy of the game upon its release, and for just a dollar more you will snag both a copy of the game on Android and OUYA. If you want to help out the developers more than that you can get yourself a copy of the game’s soundtrack, a sticker, the game on PC/MAC, a poster, and some other cool goodies. But even if you just want your very own copy of this great puzzle game you can get it and help out these devs for just $1! How can you say no to that?
BLORK is turning out to be a gorgeous and challenging new puzzle game, but the small indie team behind needs some help to get their project off the ground. Whether you’re a fan of puzzle games or you just want to help out an indie developer you really need to check out the game’s official Kickstarter page right now.
