Friday Night Indie Game Round-Up #13
Welcome to the 13th installment of the SGD Indie Game Round-Up. It has been another good week for indie gaming on Android, and we’ve brought you our compilations of puzzlers, platformers, point-and-click adventures, space shooters, and more, so we’re hoping you’ll be captivated by at least a handful of them. Enjoy this weeks picks!
Blizz from Hex3d
It is the year 2088 and global warming has reached a critical level. If the temperatures raise any higher the chances of the human race being wiped out are very high. Luckily scientists have worked hard on a solution to this, and they have created a giant city-sized freezer that they have dubbed ‘The Blizzadrome’. The Blizzadrome is a huge success, and immediately the temperature of the planet drops drastically. However, the initial success of the Blizzadrome quickly turns into tragedy after a malfunction keeps the machine from shutting down. The planet is under a terrifying reality that a modern ice age is just on the horizon. It’s up to you to shutdown the Blizzadrome using a unique match-3 style of gameplay!

Brave Bit from AppDemon
Brave Bit is a new action-packed “die and retry” micro platformer from the a small London based indie developer called AppDemon. In Brave Bit you control a little cube-like character of the same name through a variety of very challenging platforming puzzles. You must navigate your way across platforms, avoid deadly obstacles, collect different orbs, and make your way to the portal that leads to the next level. This sounds straightforward for a platformer, but the supreme difficulty is going to challenge even the most hardcore gamers out there.

Brave Bit is a stunning platformer that is not for people that don’t like a bit of challenge in their games. The gameplay has been created with a high level of difficulty that is sure to challenge anyone that picks it up. If you’re up for a challenge you’ve got to head over to Google Play and grab Brave Bit for just $1.12.
Clobbr from Czarcade
Clobbr is a casual mobile puzzler that has you arranging rows of blocks in a pattern that will send a rolling boulder down the stage towards the antagonist cat at bottom of the screen. Your goal is to bonk this cat on the head and free the innocent mice that are being held captive. The game has easy to learn mechanics and addictive gameplay that gamers of all ages sure to enjoy!

Crazy Wizard from Opal Gameplay
Crazy Wizard puts you in the shoes of a wizard that has just gone mad. Using simple touch controls (tap and hold or a virtual joystick) you must help him get to the end of each level while collecting bonuses and avoiding all enemies. The game has a stunning retro style that is unique to anything else you’re going to find on Android.
If you’re a fan of retro games you can’t afford to pass up Crazy Wizard. The game’s fantastic pixel-art style is charming and unique, and something all gamers have to experience. The gameplay is challenging but fun, and something that will appeal to gamers of all ages. Best of all it is free on Google Play, so there’s no reason not to give it a look.
Cryptic Cosmos from 3D Methods
In Cryptic Cosmos you take control of Magnus, a skilled bounty hunter that is in search of a signal at the far reaches of the galaxy. Upon getting to the location of the signal you find an abandoned alien vessel. It is here that your journey begins. Cryptic Cargo plays out like a traditional point-and-click adventure game, but with some unique twists. There are over 50 different items to find and even more puzzles to solve. Get ready to explore the depths of space in this unique point-and-click adventure game.

Micron from Apparition Games
Micron is a unique puzzle-rhythm game that has just landed on Google Play. Micron was originally created for Kongregate’s ‘Project Eden: Experience the Music’ game contest, and impressively it took second place overall! Not too bad, eh? The gameplay has you placing a variety of pieces on a game board in a manner that will deflect the energy bullets to the levels exit. Just keep in mind that this game is rhythm based, and as such these energy bullets fire to the beat!

Since its release Micron has received a lot of positive press, and you can pretty much guarantee that this game is of top quality. Along with the unique gameplay there are a total of 51 challenging levels, 12 bonus levels, and an absolutely fantastic soundtrack enjoy. If you’re a fa of puzzle games or rhythm games you are going to want to check Micron out. It can be yours for just $0.99 on Google Play.
Petals from Green-Eyed Games
Petals is a new relaxing puzzle game from the one man indie developer Green-Eyed Games. You may be familiar with this developer if you downloaded their train themed slide-puzzler Last Train to Timbuktu. You combine matching petals to make flowers, build combos, and set your own high score (through Google Play Game Services!) Petals is an abstract, relaxing matching game that fans of puzzle games really need to check out.
If this developers last game is any indication of the quality of games they make you’re not going to want to pass this one up. It’s a free download on Google Play so be sure to give it a looksie.
Potato Lagoon from Rezoner
Potatoes Lagoon is a bizarre new game from Rezoner, the maker of the hit puzzle game QbQbQb. The potatoes are under attack and you, a powerful butterfly, are their only hope for survival! Potato Lagoon is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up that was actually created for the recent Ludum Dare 27 competition. Potato Lagoon took 5th spot overall, which is a darn impressive feat if you ask me!
If you’re a fan of SHMUP’s or you’re just looking to try something a little different you really need to download Potato Lagoon right away. It’s a free download on Google Play, so definitely give it a shot.
Rock Ninja from Rifter Games

Rock Ninja is a highly addictive twitch-dodge’em style of game that really should be checked out if you’re a fan of the genre. It has a great cartoon art style, the gameplay is pretty unique from other games in the genre, and it is extremely addicting too. Leaderboards and achievements have been implemented through the Google Play Game Services as well, which is always a huge plus in my books. Best of all Rock Ninja is a free download, so there’s no reason not to check it out.
Shutter from Joyanworks
Shutter is an all new escape game that actually looks really good! You have found yourself in a haunted hotel, and you have no idea how you got there. Soon after you are approached by a stranger in black that gives you a Polaroid camera, and tells you the only way you can escape your predicament is to capture the goal via a Polaroid snapshot. The game has a definite unique premise to it, and it’s elements of challenging puzzles and horror-esque setting make this stand out as something different in the overcrowded escape genre.

If you’re into escape games or are just looking for an experience that’s a bit different you just might want to get your hands on Shutter. It can be downloaded from Google Play for just $1.33.
Space Raider from Phony Studios
Space Raider is an absolutely stunning vertical scrolling space shooter. The game combines simple touch controls, modernized-retro graphics, and highly addictive gameplay into one of the best space shooters you are going to find on Google Play. Be ready for a challenge though as this has ‘bullet-hell’ written all over it!

Tilterz from Ovine by Design
Tilterz is a unique puzzler that puts its own spin on the popular marble/tilt style of game. Twisting and turning your device will put your ball in motion, and it’s your goal to get each of the coloured marbles into pipes of the corresponding colours. This might sound easy enough, but there is a lot of skill needed here: especially if you’re aiming for getting a gold medal on each of the games 70+ levels.

Tilterz is a highly enjoyable turn/twist marble game that puzzle gamers have to check out. It’s only $1.10 on Google Play, and I highly suggest giving it a shot.
