Friday Night Indie Game Round-Up #17
Once again it is Friday, which means it is time for another one of our Indie Game Round-Ups. This week we’ve got a huge list of extremely awesome indie games that all of our readers should check out. There are tonne of quality action games, puzzle games, reflex games, and more – so check them all out below! And while you’re here you might want to check out the video feature at the bottom of the page and also vote for your favorite indie title in the poll located just below it.

Blokk Panikk from Phivesoft
Blokk Panikk is a unique action puzzler that is full of surprises. As you play through each of the game’s unique areas you will encounter new enemies, items, tools, puzzles, characters, twists, and obstacles. You’ll also enjoy a well written and very humorous dialogue that is told by a variety of very unique characters like Rob the Rabbit, Sunny the Starfish and Turbo the Turtle. Blokk Panikk currently features the 3 unique zones with 10 zones in each. The devs plan on releasing 12 new areas in the months to come which means the game will soon consist of 150 Zones! That’s a crazy amount of content that will keep any puzzle game content for a long time to come.
Blokk Panikk is a unique puzzle game that is available as both as a free download (with a limited amount of content) and as a full paid version that is available for just $2.05. This is a must buy for fans of action-puzzle games.
Briquid from Gamious
Briquid is a unique retro-styled puzzle game that really stands out from other games in the genre. In Briquid you will be moving water around a level by breaking bricks or building new ones. While this may sound easy the game is anything but. Some puzzles might only take you a few minutes to solve, but as you progress further into the game’s 100 levels you’re sure to notice the difficulty steadily rise and provide you with some serious challenge.
Briquid is a challenging but hugely entertaining puzzle game that shouldn’t be passed up by fans of the genre. Grab Briquid off of Google Play as either a free download or grab the full game for just $1.25.
Circle Squared from John Nelson Rose
Circle Squared is a unique puzzler with a fantastic minimalistic theme that has been inspired by the iconic Rubik’s Cube. At first glance you might think Circle Squared is just another “match game”. However, if this is your mindset you are very wrong. In Circle Squared you slide the rows and columns of circles up and down, left to right, to create two-by-two squares. The concept is simple and the game is easy to pick up, but as the number of colours increase, your moves become limited, and you come across the dreaded triangle obstacle you’ll realise this isn’t going to be a walk in the park.
Circle Squared is a gorgeous minimalistic puzzler that needs your attention. Grab it for just $1.01 on Google Play.
Dot.Stop.Run from OmNomCom
Dot.Stop.Run is a unique dystopian runner from the awesome indie development team OmNomCom. Dot.Stop.Run is more-or-less a sequel to the teams previous release “Dot“. Dot.Stop.Run shares similar mechanics to the first game, but tonnes of improvements have been implemented to make this a far more superior release. What really sets DSR apart from other games in the runner genre is how it gives you the ability to manipulate time. It’s a unique challenge that adds a whole new level of challenge to games of this type.

OmNomCom has stated that they will be supporting Dot.Stop.Run for months to come, and I’m sure some of the updates they have planned will be awesome. This game is a unique runner that fans of the genre are sure to fall in love with instantly. Grab it from Google Play for just $1.64.
Fist of Awesome from I Fight Bears
Fist of Awesome is a game that starts off when Tim Burr’s family mysteriously vanishes and his house spontaneously bursts into flames. Just when Tim thought his day couldn’t get get any worse his hand becomes self-aware and tells him that the world is now being ruled by bears! Tim sure isn’t going to stand for this, so you’ll have to help him on his epic battles across time and space to put an end to this madness. Fist of Awesome’s gameplay has been inspired by classic beat em ups like Double Dragon, Streets of Rage and Final Fight –but with far more bears. So get your thumbs warmed up for the most epic time-travelling bear punching beat em up of all time!

Ice Escape from Corey Drake
Ice Escape is a puzzle game that has you helping three prehistoric creatures escape from a glacier they’ve been frozen in for millions of years. Each of these characters has their own special abilities, and at times you’ll have to combine their abilities to escape certain mazes. Puzzles are solved by swiping your finger in the direction you want your creature to go and you will send it sliding across the ice until they hit a wall and stop. Levels start out pretty easy to get you warmed up to the game’s mechanics, but as you play through Ice Escape’s 100 hand crafted levels you will definitely start to notice an increase in the puzzle’s difficulty.

Ice Escape is a puzzle game that is great for players of all ages. The game’s mechanics are easy to learn but hard to master, and the 100 levels will keep gamers busy for a long time to come. Kitty Crush from Supertapp Interactive
Barry Dog really has it out for innocent little kitties. So much so that he has designed and built his very own automatic Kitty destroying machine. Lucky for the kitties this machine has one weakness: it always leaves one kitty sized space free of deadly blades of death and giant metal squishers. Do you have what it takes to keep these kitties safe from Barry?

Lucha Zombie from Subversive Studios
Lucha Zombie plays out as a mix of action fighting games and wrestling games but throws in a tonne of zombies to make things a bit more interesting. Upon starting your first match you realise that your opponent isn’t exactly who you’re used to fighting. He smells kind of gross, his skin tone is green, and he’s trying to take a big bite off your head! You quickly notice that the fans in the arena have also turned into zombies, and you are completely surrounded. You’re your only defense, so pull on your spandex and great ready to fight in the biggest battle royale of your life.
Lucha Zombie brings a tonne of over the top zombie annihilation to the wrestling ring. If you’ve ever wanted to lay the smack down on some nasty zombie scum look no further than Lucha Zombie. You can grab it off of Google Play for just $1.03.
Max Rush from Dark Spark Studios
Max Rush is a new fast-paced action-puzzler that is a combined effort by Evodant Interactive and Dark Spark Studios. The gameplay in Max Rush is a mixture of down-scrolling arcade action and elements of the always addictive match-3 formula. The method used to solve these puzzles is pretty old school too… well, if you consider medieval to be old school. Take your arsenal of sharp pointy weapons and launch them at your enemies! Clear out some of your enemies to push back the horde, and activate wicked power-ups to help out along the way. Does it really get any better than that?

Meatballphobia from Protomni Multimedia
Meatball Phobia is a gorgeous new retro-styled (both through it’s great 8-bit graphics and an awesome chiptune soundtrack) 2D-physics-puzzler. Your goal in each level is to roll a large meatball through a complex puzzle with the ultimate goal of hitting the hysterical head at the bottom of the screen. This is easier said than done though as you’ll have to contend with challenging physics based obstacles along the way. The game starts out relatively easy but as you get into the higher levels you’ll be up against even more challenging elements.

Mosquito Island from Bit Ate Bite
Mosquito Island is a game that shares a similar to that found in Fruit Ninja. You are under attack from a tonne of pesky mosquitoes so you’ll need to frantically slash away at them to keep them away from your precious blood. You have three lives and your goal goal is simply to stay alive for as long as you can while building up the best high score you can muster. You’ll need quick reflexes to succeed against the many types of mosquitoes, but luckily you have some helpful power-ups (Poison Gas and Lightning Strike) that will give you a foot up on your enemy. How long do you think you’ll be able to fend off these annoying mosquitoes?

Not Pinball is most easily described as an endless “runner” that has a unique pinball feel to it. You simply tap on the ball to direct it towards the top of the screen, and each time your ball bounces off a bumper, knocks down a drop target, or slide over a rollover spot you gain points towards your high score.
