Gridiron Thunder Comes To OUYA For Thanksgiving
It’s been a long and difficult road for the arcade style Football game Gridiron Thunder, but the controversial sports title has finally made it to the big leagues with an official release on the OUYA. While Gridiron Thunder has had its release date pushed back several times, it looks like the games developer MogoTXT has decided to release it today as both a Thanksgiving treat and a nod to all the OUYA fans who helped support Gridiron Thunder on Kickstarter. A fast paced throwback fashioned after classic 90’s sports titles like NFL Blitz, Gridiron Thunder offers updated 3D graphics, support for up to 4 players at once, and an easy to learn call system.
Gridiron Thunder‘s gameplay is an enjoyable mashup of traditional Football and arcade games that while not overly complex will still appeal to both hardcore and casual Football game fans alike. Two opposing teams, who are only identified by their home city, battle it out to score the most points while using turbo boosts for extra bursts of speed or sneaky hidden plays that have to be unlocked. There is more than enough gameplay in the normal arcade mode to satisfy most single player gamers, but where Gridiron Thunder really shines is it’s support for multiplayer. The ability to have up to four friends play at once should make Gridiron Thunder a hit at parties.
Gridiron Thunder is available now exclusively on OUYA for $9.99. Other platforms are expected to follow soon.
