Butterscotch Shenanigans Unveils Epic Survival Crafter Crashlands
Indie developer Butterscotch Shenanigans is the toughest studio in mobile gaming. It’s never easy being a new independent game maker but Sam & Seth Coster, the two brother team behind Butterscotch Shenanigans, have defined themselves by facing adversity time and time again only to emerge triumphant, a hallmark of truly great artisans. The Quadropus Rampage developer has had to battle piracy, the free to play trend, and cancer but despite all that Butterscotch Shenanigans has made incredibly awesome games like Towelfight 2 and Gerblins as an act of defiance against the things that would normally cripple a burgeoning indie studio. And they’re just getting started.
Butterscotch Shenanigans has just announced an impressively ambitious new game is in development called Crashlands, an endless survival RPG-strategy hybrid that features creature management, ‘crafting, and a mind-boggling amount of customization options. Players will struggle to stay alive in a hostile alien environment after crashing their ship into the planetary equivalent of a deserted island. They’ll have to make use of their surroundings and tame exotic creatures while creating tons of useful equipment by combining seemingly incompatible objects. Kinda like the new Tomb Raider reboot but, you know, good.
“Crashlands blends survival, crafting, creature management, strategic combat, and player expression into an endless world.” – Sam Coster
We’ll know more about Crashlands in the coming months, but judging by what’s been released so far it looks Butterscotch Shenanigans hit it out of the park with this one as Crashlands is sure to be a mega-hit. It’ll be launching this summer on Android with an iOS version shortly thereafter and the possibility for a PC version if there’s demand for it.
