Lunar Lander/Flappy Bird Mash-Up ‘Flop Rocket’ Blasts onto Google Play

Butterscotch Shenanigans has been on a real roll these past couple weeks. They have been busy pumping out new ‘Mini’ games via speedcrafting – their own personal competition to craft a new game in under 10 hours. Their first two creations were the hugely addictive endless runner/shooter Freeway Mutant and the über challenging tower defense game Extreme Burger Defense. This week these devs have put their own unique spin on the Flappy Bird genre with the release of Flop Rocket.

I find it easiest to describe Flop Rocket as a mash-up of Flappy Bird and Lunar Lander. You’re controlling a rickety spacecraft ala Lunar Lander controls (activate your boosters to accelerate or decelerate your ship and landing your craft to refuel) through a cave system filled with Flappy Bird-esque obstacles (stalactites, stalagmites, space ducks, and even HUGE rockworms) that’ll try to hinder your progress. Along the way you’ll collect coins that you can use to upgrade various aspects of your ship to make setting that new high score a little bit easier.

  • Expand your space program by hoarding space coins!
  • Slap your fins against tiny fuel pads to refill your tanks!
  • Engage in the wonder of physicsy rocket-powered goodness!
  • Dodge, dip, dive, duck, and rocket your way between herds of maniacal Spaceducks!
  • Get devoured by Rockworms!

Flop Rocket is an extremely addictive new take on the Flappy Bird genre that you absolutely must try. The unique control scheme, the addictive gameplay, the great art style, and the Google Play Game Services leaderboards and achievements will keep you coming back time and time again.
