Epic Norse Puzzle Platformer Munin Ventures Onto Android
Munin, one of Steam’s most atmospheric puzzlers in recent memory has made its way onto Android bringing with it surreal logic based gameplay that feels like it was meant to be played on a touch screen. Developed by indie studio Gojira and published by Daedalic Entertainment, Munin tells an epic tale of trials and redemption as players help guide a fallen demi-god through the perils of the underworld in search of her lost power. Combining both the platformer and puzzler genres this beautiful brain teaser challenges players to think about the level environment in a more analytical fashion which leads to some interesting gameplay scenarios.
It seems the legendary Munin, one of Odin’s most trusted and faithful messengers, has been tricked into giving up her powers by the dastardly Loki and now remains trapped in the mortal realm away from Asgard. The only way for her to return is to scour the branchs of Yggdrasil, the world tree, in search of her lost feathers which will allow her to finally take flight and revenge against Loki.
The gameplay is divided into two types that are played simultaneously. Like most platformers the object is usually simply to make it to the end of the level but here players will also need to actively manipulate the environment in order to progress past impassible obstacles. This setup takes some getting used to at first but ultimately starts to feel intuitive.
With its richly detailed world and stimulating puzzle/platform hybrid gameplay Munin does a great job of distinguishing itself from the pack. You can pick it up now for $2.99 on Google Play.
