Gauntlet Style Action Returns With New Retro Roguelike Segreta
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from indie developer PANC Interactive but that was apparently for good reason as the studio has been hard at work on an addicting new action heavy roguelike rpg called Segreta that flips the usual ‘rescue the princess’ trope on its head with great dungeon crawling gameplay and endless replayability. In this spiritual reincarnation of Gauntlet players take on the role of the aforementioned heroine as they bust out of their cell at the bottom of the dungeon and start hacking ‘n slashing their way to freedom using whatever rusty old equipment they can pry off the corpses of defeated warriors who failed in their quest. While the concept of a dungeon crawler isn’t exactly novel the highly polished combat, variety of weaponry & monsters, and randomly generated design all come together to form something great. Easily PANC Interactive’s best work yet, Segreta is sure to be a hit with roguelike aficionados everywhere.
