Arcade Minigame Collection Retro Winter Sports 1986 Hits Android

The developers behind Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic are back with a fascinating new homage to retro sports games called Retro Winter Sports 1986 that will feel like a blast from the past for anyone who grew up playing classics like Epyx’s California Games. This skill based minigame collection from indie developer The Bitfather sees players competing in six different winter games events that have been reimagined with intuitive touch screen controls while mimicking the controller setups of the past. It’s up to players to win the gold for one of twelve nations as they compete in wildly different sporting disciplines like Bobsledding and Curling.

Most of these games utilize an elegant two thumb setup that allows players to engage in frantic controller inspired gameplay without getting in the way of what’s happening on screen. Players can either compete against the computer or up to seven of their friends in a single device hot seat mode. There are also a variety of achievements to give players extra goals to reach for in addition to dominating the leaderboards. Fans of retro sports games will adore this reverent recreation of the classics.

Retro Winter Sports 1986 is available for $1.99 on Android and iOS.
