Friday Night Indie Game Round-Up #5

It’s Friday once again (woohoo!) and that means only one thing…. it’s time for the Friday Night Indie Game Round-Up! It’s been a great week for indie games, and below are a few of the best looking ones I happened across. Take a gander at this weeks list and be sure to vote for your favorites in the poll located at the bottom of this page.

9 Lives: Casey and Sphynx from Hungry Moose Games Inc

9 Lives is a game that puts you in control of a team of unlikely cohorts. First you have Casey, a bumbling museum security guard, and secondly you will control Sphynx, a sassy temple cat. These two unique characters join forces after the two accidentally break a golden idol and are then get put under the curse of the Bastet. Your oddball cast of characters are going to have to work together to solve the game’s plethora of action-packed puzzles if they’re going to remove the curse that has befallen them.

Colorblind from Wrecking Crew

Colorblind is a new fast paced puzzler that comes together as a fusion of both reflex and dexterity games. As with any game in this genre you know you’re going to get frustrated at some point down the road, but luckily Colorblind comes with 4 different difficulty modes, which means you can ramp up the difficulty when you feel like it. If you’re looking for a challenging puzzle game that is unlike anything else on the market you definitely shouldn’t let this game slip by. It is available for $0.99 on Google Play.

Falli Falldown from ROSS Games

ROSS Games has already released a few of my favorite indie games on Google Play, Copi Copter  and Rope Swing,  which both used simple game mechanics that made for highly addictive and fun games. Falli Falldown seems to follow this trend, and will undoubtedly be yet another solid game from ROSS Games.

  • Fully random generated world
  • Different balls, themes, items and power-ups
  • 6 different worlds
  • Google+ Services (online highscores and achievements)

Falli Falldown is a unique take on the falldown gameplay style, and it really needs to be played to be believed. You can download it for free on Google Play.

Jelly Run from Bit Rave

Endless Runners have become a huge sensation over the last couple of years, and a quick search of Google Play can bring you hundreds of results. However, finding an ‘runner’ (endless or not) that is worth your time is often a far more daunting task than you’d expect. Bit Rave has managed to do something a little bit different with their new runner Jelly Run. The game takes place in a unique world that is filled with a variety of really ‘sweet’ levels. You will be running, jumping, and sliding your way through 30 levels that span locales made of Chocolate, Candy, and even Ice Cream. Along the way you will have to dodge a plethora of evil minions if you’re going to defeat King Chomp and save your village.

This beautiful endless runner can be yours for the low price of $1.90 from Google Play.

Man Alive from Global Empire Soft

Man Alive is a unique platformer that comes with an interesting twist. The whole premise revolves around how death is actually beneficial (and recommended!) if you plan on actually making it further into the game. Don’t expect any health packs here, but prepare to see some corpses. Lots and lots of corpses in fact. This is an interesting concept for the platforming genre, and Man Alive certainly stands out as something that has never been seen before.

NothingElse from MyMadness Works

NothingElse is an intriguing new game that I don’t know too much about. The info on the game’s Google Play page is rather criptic, but states that NothingElse is a “short macabre tale”, and asks you to “grasp the sense of this weird story through symbolism and riddles”. It’s not much to go off of , but the screenshots show a game with a great art design, and who can complain about a game with a macabre storyline?

NothingElse is supposedly a short game, but it looks well worth checking out. And it’s free, so don’t pass this one up.

Oh Noes! Robots! from Tiltr

Oh Noes! Robots! is an extremely addictive strategy game that requires quick reflexes for success. Match same colored robots together to create massive  combos, and see just how high you can get your score. Just remember, you’re going to have to be quick if you want to keep these robots at bay. Oh noes! They’re coming!

  • Addictive lightning-quick game-play
  • Great HD graphics, music and sound effects
  • Looks and plays great on both tablets and phones
  • Global high-scores – Compete against your friends!
  • 3 different difficulty modes
  • Full game (ad-supported)

Oh Noes! Robots! is a fun game that you really need to check out. The game is free (with ads), so shoot on over to Google Play and get this right now!

Pixel Defenders Puzzle from Social Titans LLC

Pixel Defenders Puzzle is a brand-new game from Social Titans that is a match-3-puzzler (think ‘Triple Town‘) that is filled with plenty of RPG elements. You have to match pixels in order to create defenders that will in turn protect princesses, kings and queens from, well… your enemies. The gameplay definitely looks unique, and without a doubt should be highly addictive. Check out the trailer below.

Pixel Defenders Puzzle really looks like an awesome new take on the match-3 style of gameplay. You can grab this game for just $0.99 thanks to a launch sale, so be sure to grab it now before it goes back to regular price!

Relativity Wars Zero from Fungameco

Relativity Wars Zero is best described as a strategy-action game that is set around Einstein’s theory of relativity. It sounds like this would be complex beyond imagining, but luckily you don’t need to understand these concept in order to play the game. The ‘Zero’ version of the game is completely free to play, and it actually includes the entire campaign that you’d find in the paid version, and you’ve got to admit that is pretty sweet. So get ready for some time dilation and start conquering the universe right now!

  • Take the fight to the Sqishions in epic size space battles
  • Distort the fabric of space and time with powerful weaponry
