Namco Bandai Releases Soul Calibur In Japan
Bittersweet news for fans of fighting games today as Namco Bandai has finally released its lauded iOS remake of Soul Calibur on Android, but only in Japan. This impressive remake of the now legendary fighter has been tailor made for touch screen devices but still keeps the core gameplay that made the series so popular.
Soul Calibur features a varied lineup of 19 deadly warriors engaged in an epic tournament that pits different fighting styles and weapons against each other. This clash of blades gives Soul Calibur a unique hook and is the reason why the franchise thrives to this day. Players can choose a brooding champion with a oversized axe or opt for a swift dagger thrower, in this game the weapon matters just as much as the fighter.
The Android version of Soul Calibur is essentially the same as the iOS release, featuring updated graphics, controls, and a few extra features. Most notably this version features local multiplayer over bluetooth so players can challenge their friends for arcade supremacy. Other modes like Time Attack, Survival, and Museum round out the list.
Does this signify the games impending worldwide release? We can only hope, but keep in mind other Namco Bandai games like Time Crisis 2nd Strike remain exclusive to Japan to this day.
