Unreal Engine Powered Action RPG Brandnew Boy Hits Android
With mobile devices becoming exponentially more powerful in recent years we’ve seen a remarkable uptick in graphical capabilities to the point where many of the most impressive mobile games have graphics approaching or on par with consoles. This is also thanks to a new generation of powerful development tools previously out of reach for game studios like Unreal Engine 3 becoming available. While we haven’t seen that many Unreal Engine games land on Android yet, a fantastic looking new action RPG powered by Unreal called Brandnew Boy has arrived that infuses rhythm based combat with a cel shaded manga style.
In Brandnew Boy the aptly named hero of the story Rookie has been stranded in a bizarrely violent world with no memory of who he is or how he got there. It’s up to players to help Rookie battle his way through an army of menacing ninja eggs in a quest to restore his mem-..wait, EGGS?? Yup, eggs. The weird never stops in Brandnew Boy which is one of its charms. Its controls are atypical as well. Instead of trying to shoehorn console style controls into their game, developer Oozoo smartly implemented a rhythm based combat system similar to what was used in the Batman: Arkham series.
– SIMPLE CONTROLS
– UNREAL ENGINE
– DYNAMIC COMBAT
– TWO GAME MODES
– SUMMON BOSSES
– SPECIAL MISSIONs
Brandnew Boy looks amazing and has some admirable qualities though it could use a little more variety. You can pick it up on Google Play for $3.99.
