Dodge Hadoukens In New Arcade Platformer Frontgate Fighters
While at first glance indie developer stellarNull’s humorous new arcade platformer Frontgate Fighters may appear to be a fighting game in the tradition of Street Fighter 2 this satirical dodge ’em up switches things up by putting players smack dab in the middle of a fireball flinging martial arts battle between two outlandish fighting game personalities without any superhuman abilities of their own. As a security guard protecting the entrance to a typical fighting game tournament it’s up to players to keep the peace by attempting to stop a gaggle of second tier characters from destroying the place in a squabble over who will get the last available character slot.
These retro style fighters won’t take no for an answer so players will have to leap out of the way of their flurry of projectile attacks like fireballs and laser beams in order to rack up a high score and continue to ineffectually plead with the combatants. Tapping on the screen will launch players into the air so they can avoid any low bearing fireballs while tapping again in mid-air will allow them to do a spin dash that will deflect oncoming attacks. In addition to standard projectile attacks players will also have to avoid crazy super moves unique to each character. Additional fighters, power ups, and an extra stage can be unlocked by completing challenges and levelling up. If you’re up for an addicting arcade platformer with a clever twist be sure to check out Frontgate Fighters.
Frontgate Fighters is free to download on Google Play.
